I don’t know how we got to a place where every swimsuit is cut so that your butt cheeks hang out, but I have been struggling to find a swimsuit that covers my entire rear end. I mean I get that we’re in the era of the butt (thank you Kardashians), but even if my butt were at Kimmy K’s level (which it will never be, not that I need to clarify that), I am just not one of those people who feels comfortable showing off that much skin. I never have been. I’ve always been a fairly modest dresser, even as a teen. And when it comes to bathing suits, I don’t want to worry about what’s hanging out of my suit or how I look from behind. That’s why I’m a huge fan of full bottom coverage swimsuits.
It doesn’t feel like I should be alone in this or the idea that some women may want their ass covered at the pool is that shocking, but apparently it is. (Are the majority of women’s bathing suit manufacturers men, because this feels like a thing guys would think we want but they really want?) I’ve found it really hard to find cute full bottom coverage swimsuits these days. Do all bathing suit manufacturers think that we all have Kardashian-level butts that we want to show off, or that we want to spend our summer doing squats and getting our behinds waxed? Personally, I don’t think there was ever a time in my life when I wanted my butt cheeks hanging out for the world to see (and absolutely no judgement here — I think you should wear what you want and feel good in, but for me personally, I’m just not comfortable without full coverage up top and down below). As a mom of young kids, I especially appreciate a little extra coverage when chasing my kids around the beach or pool. I don’t want to be yanking on my suit the whole time or worrying about how I look from behind.
If you’re like me, and looking for a one-piece or bikini that offers a little extra coverage, I’m here to help. I’ve scoured every retailer, tried on zillions of suits, and rounded up the cutest full bottom coverage swimsuits.

Thank you for this post! This is the stupidest trend ever. Even if some (very young?) women want their butts hanging out all over the place, I cannot believe that most normal people do. And at places like Boden, that make nice suits, why aren’t the reviews reflecting this?? I keep reading them, wondering how no one is saying, “Also, there’s no butt coverage!”

YES, thank you! I am slim and young-ish and yet, I have ZERO desire for my butt to be hanging out. And even if some people do — why can’t SOME suits have normal coverage and some not. Why not offer choices???!
