Even if you’re staying in this year, or planning a low-key celebration with your crew, you still want to look festive on New Year’s Eve. After all, we have a lot to celebrate this year — we survived another rollercoaster of a year. And 2024 has to be easier, right? Right?! Either way, after living through a global pandemic and so much chaos and upheaval, I think every year deserves to be celebrated, even if it’s in sweats. Tbh, a casual New Year’s outfit is one of my favorite looks to plan — New Year’s is always a fun excuse to wear some sparkle and get a little more extra than usual but if you’re keeping it low-key, you don’t have to feel obligated to wear heels or a black tie gown, which after a long holiday season of parties sounds pretty nice IMO.
Casual new year’s outfit may sound like a misnomer, but it’s actually easy to make a casual lewk feel festive enough for the last night of the year. A dash of sparkle makes sweats, a tee, or jeans instantly New Year’s worthy. Personally, I think regardless of your plans, the evening calls for something a little more glam, especially if you’re headed to or hosting a casual New Year’s Eve party. So I like to mix and match a dressier piece or accessories with more casual items to create the perfect casual New Year’s outfit. Honestly, my favorite is sneakers or slippers or my favorite birks with a sparkly dress (especially since I find dresses far more comfy than jeans particularly after an indulgent holiday season, but hey, that may just be me).
