These days, I love a wedding. Any excuse to go out and get a babysitter and have a date night and see friends is welcome. Plus, I love the chance to dress up, find a pretty dress, and get a blowout. But, honestly, I wish I wasn’t so large and in charge rn, because it makes dressing up not quite so much fun and I have a short life-span on the dance floor these days. Let’s face it, finding something to wear to a wedding when eight months pregnant is no easy feat. If you’ve been searching for a summer maternity wedding guest dress, you know it’s slim pickings, which is why I was so excited to find this (non-maternity) dress for a wedding we had recently.
After trying on a bunch of maxi styles that fit my bump, but made me feel bigger and more matronly, I decided to go with this flirty short floral dress that’s literally the perfect summer maternity wedding guest dress. I loved how it was still comfy and fit my bump, but showed off a part of me that isn’t currently huge. I am not usually a fan of my legs — I have hated my thighs ever since I can remember and always wished for thinner, longer legs — but showing them off offers a nice contrast to the bump and dare I say my enormous belly makes my legs look smaller these days? Plus, I’m at the stage where I don’t feel very sexy or attractive, and this summer maternity wedding guest dress made me feel flirty and fun.
While I wish I could say this dress also stopped my feet from getting sore and my body from demanding to go home and go to sleep by 10pm, but it did keep me on the dance floor longer than I probably would have stayed otherwise.
