I am going to start a petition to make the week after the Fourth of July a holiday. I mean how can we be expected to function after our first real holiday weekend after quarantining and social distancing for over a year? We kept the celebrations going into Monday because I got the day off (!) and kept the red, white and blue theme because why not? I thought I’d share our Fourth of July outfits with my roundup of what I wore the second week in July 2021, because well, they were too cute not to.
Even though getting back into the swing of things was hard this week, I found a trick to recovering from a holiday week and not feeling the Sunday blues for an entire week: Planning fun things throughout the following week rather than freaking out about all the work and other things you need to catch up on. That maybe didn’t make sense. Let me explain: Usually after a long holiday weekend, I am stressed about catching up on work and all the emails I put off, recovering from eating and drinking too much, trying to get the kids back on schedule, etc. I almost punish myself for all the fun I had. But this week I decided to plan some fun things to keep the Fourth of July fun going this week (and I plan to do the rest of summer), like a pre-work tennis game, a coffee with a friend, an after work cocktail with the hubs, a pretty new top to wear to a camp drop off and Zoom meetings… you get the drift. And even though I ate way too many chips and drank a few too many margs this weekend, I tried to get dressed this week too. Usually I like to hunker down and hide while I debloat, but I think those fun things are more fun when you dress for them — the getting ready is part of it, if that makes sense. So without further adieu, here’s what I wore the second week in July 2021 aka my week in outfits.
