We just spent four sunny days in Florida visiting my family, and having a wonderful beach vacation. And it was just what the doctor ordered. This winter has been mild, so I can’t totally complain, but I feel like we’ve constantly been sick and battling colds. And frankly, after going back to work and managing two little ones, I’m exhausted and grateful for the chance to get away. Sadly, Andrew and Charlotte were sick for almost the entire trip, but just being in the sun and warm air made it easier.
It was a family vacation, so we spent a lot of the week just eating and playing in the pool and visiting the zoo and exploring. But both kids had an amazing time, and it was a good reminder why it’s so important to take breaks together, even if I didn’t get much sleep while we were away.
Now that I’m essentially packing for four when we go away (yes, I pack for my husband and yes, I’m rolling my eyes at myself), I find I have less time to think about what I’m going to wear on vacation. (See my beach vacation packing list here.) I also have two little ones to chase after and who like to use me as their human napkin, so I no longer just pack my prettiest dresses and bikinis when we go on beach vacations. (Check out what I wore on our last trip to Florida and to the Bahamas.) I wanted to look cute though when we went out – there’s something about beach vacations that make you want to dress all cute. So I went for breezy maxi dresses in prints that could hide sticky kid fingers and spit-up. I stuck with mostly flat sandals and relied on shorts and tunics for the rest of the trip. Here’s what I wore on our February trip to Florida aka my favorite (chilly) beach vacation outfits.
