Does this J.Crew dress make me look pregnant? (I’m not.) I can’t tell, but I sorta don’t care because I’m feeling it (and I bought it on final sale so I’m stuck with it.) In an effort to showcase more real style, I’m going to be showing my own and my own style dilemmas that I face each day getting dressed because for some reason it’s always a struggle still, especially now that I am trying to adjust to my new role as a working mom with zero time. Now that I’ve had a baby, I worry that everything makes me pregnant that doesn’t have a waistline to it. But I just really wanted a proper sundress and for some reason, I’ve been feeling gingham recently (maybe because it’s everywhere?). So when this dress was an extra 40% off, I felt like it was too good a deal to pass up. It has pockets which was a welcome surprise, but it has more fabric in the skirt that makes me look bigger. But it could also be the empire waist, which I’m not as into with my post-baby body. I tested this out at work, because you gotta wear your new dress the next day, right? But honestly, I think it would work better as a weekend dress, perfect for bbqs and beach parties. I tossed on a denim jacket for the office, but felt a little CT mom, even though I went with a more boyfriend style jacket and rolled the sleeves. I’m thinking maybe I try it with t-shirt under for work instead or maybe even a grandpa cardi and heels. I tried it with both my fave Stuart Weitzman black sandals and my Stan Smiths. The Stan Smiths won, but honestly, I didn’t feel like I loved either of my footwear options with it. I’m thinking it might pair better with my tan gladiator sandals.
