After years of not traveling, everyone is flocking to Europe once again this summer and Instagram is making us all jealous. I’ve been dying to book tickets to Paris or Italy or London, recently. It’s funny, I haven’t been to Europe in a few years and wasn’t really craving it, but for some reason, I’m feeling an intense draw to head overseas right now. Luckily, my friend is getting married in France this summer, giving me the perfect excuse to plan a European vacation. And our ten year anniversary is coming next year and calls for perhaps a trip to Italy. I feel like I’ve just jinxed myself by saying that, but I think 10 is worth a big celebration. It feels like the whole world has already set off for Europe this summer and I’ve gotten so many requests for packing guides for different European destinations, so I thought I’d share a guide for what to wear sightseeing in Europe. It’s everything I would be packing and wearing right now if I was jaunting off to Paris or Rome or London right now.
Whether you’re honeymooning in Italy or Paris, tacking a weekend of sightseeing onto a business trip to London, or backpacking or bachelorette-ing through Europe with your girls, you don’t want to do the gym sneakers and shorts look that screams “tourist”, but you also don’t want to be complaining about blisters, sweat, and your heavy purse as you’re climbing to the top of the Eiffel Tower. It is possible to dress comfortably and appropriately for an entire day of being on your feet, checking out the sites and over-AC’d museums, riding along on hotter than hot bus tours, people watching at sunny outdoor cafes, unexpected downpours while hoofing it from monument to monument — and to look chic in all those instas and TikToks you’ll be taking along the way. So if you’re planning an overseas adventure coming up soon, here’s what to wear sightseeing to Europe.
