As easy as a dress but with infinitely more wardrobe-stretching power, it’s not hard to see why matching sets have gone from being summer’s hottest trend to fall’s go-to look. I love this look because it’s as easy to style as a dress (and you know, I’m a dress girl through and through) — you just throw on the matching skirt and top — but you can also wear the pieces separately, giving you more bang for your sartorial buck. The trend was big for summer, but I promise there’s nothing chicer than matching sets for fall. The matching skirt and top combo is fresh and slightly sexy, two words that rarely are used to describe fall fashion, right? But I’m absolutely here for it. It’s time we had some fun with our post-summer outfits.
I might even prefer matching sets for fall. A high-waisted knit pencil skirt and ever so slightly cropped matching knit top is probably my favorite way to wear the trend, especially in a crisp white — it’s elegant yet hot and just so boss. I also love a boxy sweater and skirt combo, whether it’s a flirty mini or a longer midi. Prints are a chic way to wear the matchy-matchy look that’ll really pop, and is fun for a night out or more creative work environment. For more conservative offices, however, I suggest sticking to solid hues. If you’re looking to get in on this trend, here are my favorite ideas and inspiration for how to wear matching sets for fall courtesy of some of my favorite street style pics.
