Looks like we’ve finally tapped out the ’80s and ’90s for fashion inspo, and reached back another decade. The ’70s are the latest era to be recycled this spring, and the more fall-esque boho hues, along with the decade’s signature styles — flares, tie-neck blouses, fringe, and suede —are everywhere this spring. The trick to pulling off that ’70s look is to mix ’70s-inspired styles with more modern pieces, so you don’t look like you’re dressing up as a hippie on Halloween. Olivia Palermo and all the street stylers throughout fashion month showed us how to wear the season’s ’70s styles in sophisticated, modern ways. Mix an Ali McGraw-inspired denim look with a blush-and-black striped fur coat, pair a suede fringe skirt with a graphic sweatshirt and a fringe-trimmed suede jacket with a leather skirt, or team a mod dress with trendy ankle booties.
