Kids’ birthday parties are a thing again, and it feels like we’re being flooded with invites right now. Part of it is that James has more friends thanks to school and activities and part of it is that parents are going all out to make up for previous years’ canceled birthdays and celebrations. I know this might be a controversial thing to say but I love kids’ birthday parties. Our kids are still at the age where we, for the most part, need to attend, but I’m fine with that. We’d be watching them anyways and probably trying to figure out something fun to do. When you have a kids’ birthday party, the entertainment and food are usually taken care of, and you can socialize with the other parents. It’s not too bad of a deal in my opinion. Plus, it’s cute for me to get to see James play with all his friends and to get to know their parents better. But all these birthday parties also means I’ve been buying a lot of gifts and now that James is is in kindergarten, I feel like I have a good handle for what to buy for 5-year-old boys.
If you’re looking for a holiday or birthday gift for 5-year-old boys now, I have you covered. I like to buy in bulk so I don’t have to stress out the morning of a party, running around trying to find and wrap a present. I’ve done a lot of online researching and polling of my mom friends and of course have used my own kids as tests, and I’ve rounded up a pretty good (if I do say so myself) list of the best gifts for 5-year-old boys.
