After the Christmas holidays, Valentine’s Day is one of the few excuses to get festive during winter’s darkest days. Whether you’re heading to a party, finishing multiple bottles of vino with your girls (or your cat), or going on a romantic date (which I’ll be doing for the first time in a looonnngg time), here are some Valentine Day’s outfit ideas.
If you’re staying in or going to a decidedly low-key celebration, you still want to look festive on New Year’s Eve. My favorite approach is to add some sparkle to jeans or leather pants or dress down a dress with a cozy sweater. If you’re looking for options, here are my favorite ideas for what to wear to a casual New year’s Eve party.
Like Thanksgiving, you want your Christmas outfit to be comfy enough to stuff your face…

Dressing for a kid’s birthday party is not exactly like dressing for an adult birthday party in that kids are messy and their parties often involve some form of activity that doesn’t exactly mesh well with heels or cute dry-clean only dresses. Still, cutoff shorts and a t-shirt doesn’t exactly live up to the effort involved in an event that often involves hired kiddy entertainment, catered food, and personalized decorations (or at least in NYC, where the birthday parties we’ve been to can be way over the top). And hey, kids are a lot of work, so after making it through another year, it really should be just as much about celebrating the parents, right? The trick to dressing for a kid’s birthday party is finding that perfect blend of comfy and casual and kid/baby-proof but still chic. Easy enough? Yeah right! To help, I put together a guide for what to wear to a kid’s birthday party.
From a holiday party with the kids to a Christmas cocktail party and my office holiday party, here’s what I wore this week.
I thought I’d be excited to dress for the holidays this year, now that I…

These days, I love a wedding. Any excuse to go out and get a babysitter…
I don’t know about you, but my mailbox is already filled with invitations to spring…
I wasn’t sure if I could do the whole polka dot thing. Honestly, I worried it was too cutesy for me, and I still can’t decide if I look like a dalmatian cupcake in this dress. But I like it, and rather than obsess over whether something fits my style or if I’ll love it in a year or whatever, I’ve started to go with the shopping approach of buying what I love, and it was love at first sight with this dress.
Recently I went to a baby shower in the Connecticut on a frigid day. I wanted to look cute and slightly spring-y (or at least not wear all black or my current uniform of the biggest, warmest sweater I can find). As per usual I wasn’t liking anything in my closet, so i ordered a dress that is actually the perfect winter to spring dress.
I actually find dressing for spring weddings to be the easiest of any season because stores are filled with pretty new arrivals. But finding the perfect dress is always a struggle, so I’ve rounded up a bunch of great options to wear to a spring wedding.
