After a lull, we’ve had quite a few weddings recently. Mostly the stragglers of our friends. Dressing for summer weddings is fun, but if can be tough. There’s the heat and humidity to contend with, and then it’s often followed by a drop in temp when the sun goes down. If the wedding is more casual, there are usually a million sundresses to a choose from. But when it’s a more formal affair, it can get tricky. Sure a long black dress will totally work, but I don’t know, for summer, it feels so blah. I always struggled to figure out what to wear to a black tie wedding in summer, but I just found the perfect solution — this tiered ruffled off the shoulder dress.
I’m not a huge fan of long dresses that are a single solid color other than black though. They feel so prom to me. Which is why I love this off the shoulder dress for a black tie summer wedding. The print is summery and fun but the long silhouette and off the shoulder style and tiers dress it up. Plus, there’s something about a printed evening gown that I love, especially for summer and destination weddings – it feels more fun, festive and youthful. If the setting is a beach or backyard, the dress is long enough that you can get away with fancy flat sandals. If you’re heading to a ball room or more formal setting, you can pair it with heels. Plus, unlike most black tie dresses, this is one that can be dressed down for a slightly more casual affair.
This one also comes with a really reasonable price tag for a formal gown and the fabric is airy enough that you won’t sweat to death if the ceremony or reception is in the sun. So if you’re not sure what to wear to a black tie wedding in summer, I have found the perfect dress.
