A good cover-up can take a basic bikini or simple one piece swimsuit to the next level, literally cover up any areas that you want covered up, and take you from the beach to the grocery store to cocktails and beyond. That’s why I always invest in great coverups every year and recommend doing the same. They’re really the workhorses of your vacation and summer wardrobes. So many styles can double as outfits to be worn to lunch or dinner too — throw an oxford shirt on with a pareo or cute sandals on with a beach dress. With spring break and summer on the horizon, I have gotten lots of requests for beach cover up ideas so I thought I’d roundup all my favorite ones.
I like to invest in great coverups because I get so much wear out of them and tend to wear them for years and years. Most patterns and styles are classics that will stand the test of time so you can wear for years to come. With that said, I do want to emphasize that you don’t have to spend a fortune to find cute coverups. There are so many great coverups at every price point. There are also so many different styles to choose from: Classic tunics styles, rompers, a breezy skirt, cutoffs, or an oversized men’s oxford. There are number of ways to go when choosing a pool or beach coverup, all equally chic. I recommend having a few different types in your arsenal as all work for different types of suits and situations: a pareo, a beach dress you can throw over your bathing suit and go straight to lunch or a bbq, a tunic type coverup for when it gets a bit chilly or your shoulders need extra protection.
