There was a period in our lives when we spent every weekend at weddings (or wedding-related events) during the summers. These days, we attend far fewer weddings, and then when Covid hit, we didn’t attend a single one. However, all those postponed nuptials that didn’t happen have been rescheduled and we’re now getting hit with a new wave of summer wedding invitations. People are ready to get dressed and party! I am predicting that this will be the summer of weddings (and wedding-related celebrations) once again. So I’m not surprised that my DMs have been flooded recently with questions about what to wear to a summer wedding.
All those summer nuptials, engagement parties, and showers typically entail traveling to a different scenic outdoor setting to celebrate the happy couple and shower them in expensive gifts. Not only can it all add up and use up your vacation days up quickly, but dressing for all the different types of summer wedding settings and ~creative~ dress codes can be pretty overwhelming. Plus, there’s weather to keep in mind and setting (especially if there will be grass or sand). Bottom line: It can be hard to figure out what to wear a summer wedding. Having been to a wedding in just about every type of setting and corner of the world (my husband has a lot of friends and family and I have a few, lol), I now consider myself a bit of an expert at summer wedding guest dressing. So consider this your ultimate guide for what to wear to a summer wedding.
