New Year Eve is one of the few excuses to dress up in something sparkly and ~fancy~ even if you’re just going over to someone’s apartment to watch the ball drop on TV. It’s also the end of the holiday season, and the last occasion to stress over your attire for the year. Even if your plans are to turn down, the night itself brings the excitement of champagne and celebration, a fresh start, and all the possibilities a new year can bring, so you always want to wear something extra special, which is why cocktail attire is usual the dress code de rigeur for most New Year’s celebrations (that aren’t explicitly black tie).  It’s the perfect excuse for a short dress with a hint or a whole lotta sparkle, a hot skirt set or sheer dress, or an impossibly chic (and slightly impractical) jumpsuit.
