I am complete denial that summer will be over before we know it and the kids will be going back to school, I’ll be going back to the office, and the weather will begin to cool off. The long sunny days at the pool or beach followed by watching the kids run around and eat ice cream in their wet bathing suits while we sip margaritas and rose, are numbered. They’re really my favorite parts about summer and I miss the long summer days and warm weather the rest of the year. Covid made me especially appreciative of the warm summer months when we can do so much outside. But it’s officially August, and before we know it, September and Labor Day weekend will be there. So as much as it pains me, I’m already putting together my guide for what what to wear over Labor Day weekend.
I like to go big on Labor Day weekend and really relish the final weekend of summer in all its glory. I’m talking parties, BBQs, skipping naps to get in extra pool and beach time, and endless ice cream. Personally, I’m not planning to change out of my swimsuit all weekend, except I guess maybe for dinner and the sad sad drive home. But I’m not getting too fancy — I’ll throw on a sundress for pretty much any occasion that requires clothing. Then again, I’m sort of inspired to step up my game knowing that soon enough I’ll be boxing up my summer dresses and sandals and swapping in the sweaters and boots. Tear I feel like I should get as much out of my summer faves before I have to pack them up again, ya know? Whether you’re heading out of town or staying home for Labor Day, grilling in the backyard and whipping out the Slip ‘N Slide, or spending the weekend at the beach or club, I’ve put together outfits for everything that might be on your agenda for the final long weekend of summer. Here’s what to wear over Labor Day weekend.
