When we moved, we also transitioned James to a big boy bed, and now it’s time to start decorating James’ big boy room. James’ room is on the smaller side, but it’s a good size for a toddler boy room, and he has his own adjoining bathroom, which is nice. The bathroom needs a gut — it works but we don’t love the design and set up — but that’s for another day. In the meantime though, I want to finish James’ toddler boy room. It’s hard to figure out what feels too baby-ish and what will work for a toddler boy without feeling like a teen boy room either. Since this isn’t our forever home, I feel like I can decorate for the age he’s in, which I’m excited about, so I’ve been spending loads of time on Pinterest looking for cute toddler boy room inspiration, and I’m excited to share our inspiration for his room.
I love that with little kids rooms you can have more fun with the colors and artwork and even wallpaper and upholstery. You can play with fun prints and mix and match, and overly coordinate if that makes sense. In fact, the rest of our house is still tbd, but I am so excited to decorate the kids’ rooms that I’m making them a priority. For James’ room, I know the main color will be blue, because I’ve already bought him some blue bedding, and well, I love blue. But to help me figure out the rest, I’ve pulled some toddler boy room decorating ideas and inspiration. Here’s my favorite inspiration and ideas for James’ big boy room. I”m leaning toward a nautical/sailboat theme to take advantage of some old prints we have and an adorable print I’m in love with that I want to use as wallpaper or window treatments, but some of these other rooms are also so adorable, it’s hard to decide.
