Because you’re so cool you don’t even need to put your jacket on. Just kidding but not really. My favorite styling trick is probably to rest your jacket on your shoulders. It looks so elegant and dare I say, grown up? It’s not necessarily the most practical styling hack. You have to walk and move a certain way to avoid it falling off, and if you are chasing after kids (as I am most of the time), it doesn’t really work. But it’s an easy way to instantly elevate any outfit and to carry a cardi or jacket on days or nights when you’re not sure if you’ll actually need it. It’s also perfect for those in-between season times when one minute you need your jacket, and the next you don’t. The reason this style hack is so effective is because it’s effortless adn yet not at all, ya know what I mean? It just rests on your shoulders in that just threw it on and ran out the door way (nevermind how long you spent in front of the mirror trying to get it to perfectly balance there). I rounded up some of my favorite ideas for how to wear your jacket on your shoulders to give you some outfit inspo. But honestly, there isn’t a big secret to pulling off this look.
As you can see from my inspo below, it works with everything from dresses to sweaters. You just drape the jacket over your shoulders and try not move your arms to high so as not to shake it off. If you’re wearin ga crossbody bag, I like to wear it underneath the jacket, or you get stuck in a straight jacket sort of position that’s incredibly awkward. Here are ideas for how to wear your jacket on your shoulders.
