Sweaters are my go-to in fall and winter, and honestly, anytime the temps are below 60. But sometimes they can look a little bulky for the office or a date night, and they can make your outfit look sloppy. That’s why I love this style trick: Tuck in your sweater to make it look a million times more polished. This isn’t exactly a new styling trick. It’s become very popular recently, with lots of people opting for the front tuck, but it can be trickier than it looks, so I thought I’d share some tips and tricks to tuck in your sweater right.
Depending on the length and weight, you can tuck it all the way in, or just do the half tuck for bulkier knits. Some people prefer to just do the front tuck, where you just tuck a bit of the front into your pants or skirt and leave the back untucked. You can center this tuck for a more polished look or do it on one side for a more effortless vibe. Another option is to tuck the sweater into the band of your bra, so you avoid adding bulk around the waist. This works especially well with a chunkier sweater. There are also elastic bands you can buy to tuck the sweater into that does the same thing without messing with your bra and can sit lower, which can be helpful with shorter sweaters. For a polished look, gather the excess sweater in the back, wrap around and knot it like you would a tee in the 80s and fasten with a hair tie or rubber band. Tuck the bump under into the sweater and you’re done. Regardless of how you tuck in your sweater, it’s just like tucking in your shirt, it instantly makes your outfit look 100 percent more put-together.
