Wide leg pants have officially taken over. While I love more structured styles for an incredibly chic work look and flare jeans for casual-cool nights out and weekends, in the category of slightly impractical but I want it anyway fashion, I’m currently obsessing over palazzo pants. The breezy pajama-like style is reminiscent of the palazzo pants I wore back in the day, and look chicest when you ignore the classic rules of proportions and pair them with an oversized top. I love them with a structured tunic for work or a summer soiree or a tucked in men’s oxford or with a vintage band tee knotted in the back as a cool contrast to a feminine print. Here are some tips if you need help figuring out how to style palazzo pants this summer.
- Pair printed bottoms with a top in the same pattern
- Keeping proportions in check is the key to how to style palazzo pants – if your top is more billowy, keep it more cropped
- Or tuck in your shirt to keep the look clean
- Bodysuits are a great way to offset the flowy pants for a night-out.
- A tucked-in tee or tank works great for a more casual look.
- Get them tailored so graze your toes – they’re supposed to be almost too long. That way you can also wear with flats or heels
- Go for a print to keep the look feeling fresh
- Pair with a cropped blazer or tucked in oxford shirt or blouse for the office
