This past week, it’s finally started to feel like spring is coming. Mostly because the sun’s been shining and things are starting to bloom, because it’s still been cold af, as in tights weather cold. But I really can’t stand another day of dressing in my winter uniform and I also feel like I always end up missing out on spring due to the weather and all the cute spring clothes and I end up having to skip right to summer. Not this year! Spring is pretty much the best season to dress for and now that it’s almost April, I plan to spend the next two months wearing pretty spring clothes, even if I have to layer them with warmer pieces to avoid freezing my ass off. Even though in-between weather like this can be tricky to dress for, I actually appreciate the styling opp – it’s fun to layer dresses with sweaters and jackets and booties but no tights and makes it even to rewear one dress over and over, which I will be doing. But when it comes to picking out a spring playground outfit, I always opt for layers and comfort. I do not want to be freezing, or I’ll just want to go home and then feel guilty about depriving James of outdoor play time.
We want to spend more time outside with James and Dakota now that spring is here, but I also don’t want to freeze my butt off. It’s still sweater and a substantial jacket weather so I try to spring-ify it with white jeans. As it gets warmer (and I find time for a pedi), I may swap the mules for flat sandals and trade the heavier coat for a denim jacket, army jacket or my go-to Barbour coat. This jeans/sweater/jacket combo is my go to spring playground outfit. It’s a step up from sweats, but it’s still comfy enough to chase after James in. I find that throwing a fun jacket and cute flats on dresses up a casual weekend look without feeling too over the top for the playground.
