After going through a major dress phase, winter has finally gotten to me, and all I want to wear is jeans and a sweater. I just can’t with tights, which really do very little to keep your legs warm, and it’s been freezing lately. Luckily, where I work, pretty much anything goes. However, when you work in magazines, you’re surrounded by the most fashionable people and you never know which celebs or prominent figures will drop by, you gotta step up your jeans and sweater outfit game. My go-to strategy? A statement coat and a great pair of shoes. The shoes can even be flats if you go for a truly amazing pair like these Veronica Beard studded flats I recently purchased on sale and have proven to be worth every penny. Likewise I bought this crazy Tory Burch coat last year. I wasn’t sure if it was too much for me, and worth the enormous splurge and actually tried to return it but I had snagged it end of season at a mega discount and it was final sale, so I was stuck with it. And I couldn’t be more happy that I did because I’ve never gotten so many compliments on a coat in my life. Also, it couldn’t be warmer, so it’s been a good alternate to my go-to parka on freezing cold days. I love how combined with the shoes it makes my chunky black turtleneck sweater and jeans look fashionable not basic.
