White is all I want to wear this season ever. And even though we’ve passed the traditional Memorial Day mark for wearing all-white (and I don’t listen to that irrelevant, dated rule anyway, wearing white all winter long, and basically any time and all the time after Labor Day), the fact that summer crept up on me and I’m in denial it’s already June (and that it’s felt more like March as of late), has made me shy away from wearing crisp summer whites head to toe. My hesitance to whip out my go-to summer uniform may also have something to do with my lack of tan/any pigmentation. And as a paler than pale person (and not in the enviable translucent Rooney Mara way) I can say this: Bright whites + pastiness is not a good look (at least not on me). So at least until I can get some color (or find the patience to figure out how to use the St. Tropez self tanner that’s been sitting in my bathroom cabinet since last June), I will be amping up my summer whites with a contrast of color or non-color like black (wait, is it black that’s technically not actually color, or white? I clearly wasn’t paying attention during the kindergarden color wheel lesson). Anywho… black and white is my go-to, but I’m starting to feel like I may have overplayed the impossibly chic combo, so I’m also attempting to add some subtle color (a pastel blue or more fall-y burnt orange or deep red for an unexpected touch) and print (like low-key rustic stripes over the preppy yacht-club type) to the equation.
