Let’s face it: bathing suits are totally overpriced. And when it’s sweltering, it’s basically all you want to be wearing. So why save it for just the pool or the beach? Why not wear it everywhere? Those trendy one pieces easily double as cute tank top/bodysuits that look chic with a cute skirt or pair of shorts or even linen pants and sandals for lunch/brunch, cocktails or dinner. It makes Hamptons weekend and vacation packing even easier and you won’t have to worry about changing should you find yourself at the beach or pool or in the midst of an impromptu late-night swim. Here’s are some tips for how to wear your swimsuit as a top.
Choose a swimsuit with a cool neckline. A fun neckline like a ruffle or off the shoulder or one shoulder suit can be a total outfit maker. Just wear it like you would a gorgeous top and keep the rest of the outfit more pared down.
Treat it like a bodysuit. A bathing suit is essentially summer’s bodysuit. So wear it like you would one — with jeans, skirts or pants worn on top. Balance out the more fitted top with a wider leg bottom, floaty skirt or linen pants or even wide leg jeans. With that said, if you’re feeling great, pair it with a fitted mini or jeans and show of your shape!
Be mindful of prints. Printed bathing suits can be harder to wear as a top. Some prints are fun for the pool or beach but scream swimsuit. WIth that said, the right print can totally double as a top. If you’re doing a printed suit, go with solids or pared down print for the rest of your outfit to balance it out.
And that’s it — my tips for how wear your swimsuit as a top. Pretty simple, right? Will you try it?
