Now that I am a second time boy mom, I’m getting pretty good at discerning the best toys for boys and which ones they really use and which one they don’t. And also which ones are dangerous weapons and which won’t be turned into dangerous weapons. As we get ready to celebrate Baby Brooks’ first birthday, I’m trying to get creative with his bday gifts, especially since he has inherited many hand-me-downs from his brother and sister. I’ve been been asking friends and doing a lot of research and shopping and found some really great 1st birthday gifts for boys. I have rounded up my favorite first birthday gifts for girls in the past, so thought it was time to do the same for the boys too. I also have a holiday gift guide for one year olds with more festive ideas.
In my gift guide roundup, I really tried to weed out the cheap plastic toys that break in a second, the cute toys that just won’t get any love as cute as they are, the dust-collecting space hoggers, and narrow it down to what my boys have loved playing with and have stood the test of time or given mom some moments of piece and quiet or two minutes to sit down and enjoy some coffee. Some of my favorite 1st birthday gifts for boys are really present for parents actually — the gear that make life easier with a crawler/walker/little man on the move or is a life-saver when traveling or cooking dinner or in the car. Others are fun toys my kiddos have loved and some are just cute things to dress them in or read them. Whether you’re shopping for your niece/nephew, friend’s baby, or your own little one, these are my favorite 1st birthday gifts for boys.
