When it’s blizzarding, or sleeting, or slushy, or just plain-old freezing, a super warm parka is really the only option. In a chic neutral — black, grey, tan, army green, or even white — with luxe touches like fur trim and sleek finishes, a sporty parka can go from weekend to work and even take you out on the town. Personally, I hate being cold in winter, so I always look for the warmest coat possible and winter parkas are all I wear for most of January. But I also like to look as chic as possible, especially when I’m out on the streets of New York City or hopping around our neighborhood or hitting up apres ski. That’s why I wanted to round up some really cute ideas and inspiration for how to wear a winter parka — and still look chic. And I also included my favorite winter parkas to shop now.
Of course a winter parka is a great option to wear with leggings and boots. Or to pair with sweaters adn jeans on the weekends. It’s my winter mom uniform for sure. But it also looks great when paired with a dress or skirt or leather leggings and heeled boots for a cool contrast to a more dressed-up look. In fact, adding the parka on top of a dressier look is a really cool vibe that’s trending now. For those of us who have to deal with snow, sleet and cold temperatures for most of January and often through March, a winter parka is often the best and most practical outerwear. I love investing in great coats, but no one wants to ruin a fabulous coat in a sleet storm, ya know? And parkas can not only keep you dry and warm but they can look really stylish, especially if you choose one that fits really well (I always go with the bigger of my two sizes to allow for layering but never go up too much to make sure it’s not too bulky) and has stylish add-ons like faux fur trim.
Here are more of my favorite ideas for how to wear a winter parka because it’ll be snow season before we know it (tear).
