It’s officially fall and while it’s still relatively warm here on the East Coast, it’ll start cooling off before we know it. I always feel like it’s super hot super hot super hot and then all of a sudden one day it’s freezing and we’re all caught unprepared. It’s as if we feel like fall is never coming so we hold off on buying those sweaters and boots and jackets and then bam it hits without warning. I am holding onto summer for dear life, but I also have so much going on this fall (as I know we all do), so I’m trying to get ahead of the game and get my coat game squared away. I always invest in coats and jackets. They’re often the only part of your outfit people see, and they can elevate your outfit immediately. They’re also practical – we need to stay warm, right? And in fall, layers are key so having the right arsenal of jackets and coats is key. I usually invest in one to two coats every year that I know will stand the test of time. I don’t always go for a splurge investment piece. Sometimes it’s a great Zara or Mango coat, and they often have options that rival designer ones, but I also will go for a more splurge-worthy coat that I know will make a statement and be with me forever. In many ways, a great coat can elevate an outfit even more so than great shoes or bags (although those go a long way too). I know a lot of you are starting to think about fall clothes and toppers, so I’ve rounded up my favorite fall jackets 2023.
Fall is interesting because it starts out warm, often too warm for coats. Then you need a lighter jacket at night or in the mornings and then you need something heavier but not quite the winter parka. It also goes out like that so any fall jacket you buy now can make a reappearance in the fall, which is again why I like to invest in coats and jackets.
